Mit Babel Collage Duo feat. Martin Iannacone

Babel Collage

KLEIN PETITE ORCHESTER

It was a sunny day in Mexico when Carlos Corona and Giovanna Piazza met, in 2009. She heard him playing a Brazilian song on the guitar and started immediately to sing the second part of it. Since then they have started building their own collage of jazzy Acapulco-Paris- dream music.
In this duo, Brazilian singer Giovanna Piazza and Mexican guitarist Carlos Corona unite the musical traditions of their continents with jazzy elements, captivating audiences worldwide with their distinctive sonic landscapes.
Their performances weave together genres, rhythms, and languages — sung in more than seven languages — offering audiences a fresh and uplifting musical experience: both intimate and cosmopolitan.
From small venues to grand theaters and international festivals, Babel Collage has enchanted audiences across Germany, Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, France, and the USA.

Giovanna Piazza was born in Brazil and grew up in Germany, France, and Mexico. Multilingualism is as much a part of her biography as her early exposure to the world of theatre, art, and music — being the daughter of two dancers. At the age of 14, she made her debut as a singer at the São Paulo City Theater. In Weimar, she began her vocal studies under tenor David Lee Brewer.
Today, Giovanna sings in eight languages, masters a wide range of musical genres, and loves blending different styles. She has been invited to perform with diverse ensembles such as the French band Les Femmes de Serge and the Klezmer-jazz group Sherele — appearing in Yiddish on their 2012 album Goulash Birria. In 2016, she recorded her first solo album Vereda Tropical, a tribute to Mexican music and her Brazilian roots.
Since 2017, she has been based in Berlin, performing regularly with Babel Collage. Together, they have appeared on renowned stages such as the Staatsoper Hannover, Theater Putbus, and at the Carnival of Cultures Berlin. Giovanna is currently working on her new album Horizonte with Babel Collage.

Carlos Corona was born in 1990 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Initially inspired by the music of his homeland, the classical guitarist later discovered the Brazilian seven-string guitar, which became central to his artistic voice. He has participated in numerous Latin, tango, and jazz projects, constantly developing new forms of expression for contemporary guitar music.
His performance at the International Jalisco Jazz Festival 2016 was nominated as Best Jazz Concert in Mexico.
Carlos has collaborated with renowned artists such as Natalie Greffel, Lily Dahab, Carlos Libedinsky, and Pablo Woiz. Together with Greffel, he performed at the Deutscher Jazzpreis, and he recorded the album UNO with Agustín Belbussi. He is currently part of the project Horizonte, soon to be released with Babel Collage.
Since 2017, he has lived and worked in Berlin, where he continues to explore new musical paths and establish himself as a versatile guitarist and composer.

Martin Iannaccone Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Iannaccone is primarily recognized as a professional cellist, though he is also proficient in piano, drums, percussion, and bass. His musical style often blends traditional South American sounds with modern electronic and jazz elements.
He is perhaps best known as a co-leader of the acclaimed ensemble Tango Crash alongside fellow Argentinian musician Daniel Almada. The group is celebrated for its "totally original approach" to Argentine Tango, mixing homeland rhythms with jazz and a unique use of electronics to create a distinctive, occasionally dark atmosphere.
Throughout his career, Iannaccone has collaborated with high-profile artists across various genres.
